10 Financial Benefits of Hiring a Vehicle Accident Lawyer

By Tex Freitag

If you’ve been in a vehicle accident, you may wonder if you need to hire a lawyer. While every accident is unique and comes with its own complications and financial losses, there are many financial benefits to hiring a vehicle accident lawyer.

Lawyers are expert negotiators, they know the actual worth of their case, and you have nothing to lose by hiring them. Moreover, they will fight for you in court on your behalf and can even get you more money than the amount offered by the insurance company.

With that in mind, here are ten of the most important financial benefits of hiring a car accident lawyer.

You May Be Entitled to More Money Than the Insurance Company Offers

When you are in an accident, the insurance company will likely contact you and offer you a settlement. While this may sound like a lot of money, it is important to remember that the insurance company is looking out for their best interests, not yours.

A vehicle accident lawyer will be able to negotiate on your behalf and get you a fair car accident settlement that considers all of your losses. In many cases, you may be entitled to more money than the insurance company initially offers.

You Have Nothing to Lose by Hiring a Lawyer

You may think you can’t afford to hire a lawyer, but that’s not always the case. Most lawyers work on a contingency basis, which means they don’t get paid until you do. So, you have nothing to lose by hiring a lawyer and everything to gain.

Plus, a lawyer can help you negotiate a fair settlement with the insurance company. They’ll also ensure you’re treated fairly and get the compensation you deserve.

Lawyers Are Experienced in Negotiating With Insurance Companies

When you hire a vehicle accident lawyer, you get someone with years of experience negotiating with insurance companies. Your lawyer will know the best ways to get the money you deserve and will be able to protect your best interests throughout the process.

Lawyers Know the Value of Your Case

The last thing you want to think about is money when you’re in a car accident. But the fact is, you may need to hire a lawyer, and you may need to file a lawsuit. And if that’s the case, you want to ensure you’re represented by someone who knows the value of your case and can get you the best possible settlement.

That’s where a vehicle accident lawyer comes in. These lawyers have years of experience negotiating settlements and know what your case is worth. They’ll work hard to get you the best possible outcome and won’t rest until they’ve achieved justice for you and your family.

Lawyers Take the Time to Investigate Your Case

When you hire a lawyer after a vehicle accident, they will take the time to investigate your case fully. This includes gathering all the evidence, talking to witnesses, and reviewing police reports. This kind of intensive investigation can help strengthen your case and increase your chances of winning a settlement.

Lawyers Will Fight for You in Court if Necessary

If the insurance company refuses to pay or tries to offer you a settlement that’s well below what you deserve, your lawyer will fight for you in court. A good lawyer knows the legal system’s ins and outs and will ensure you get the best possible outcome.

Lawyers Are Paid on a Contingency Basis, So You Don’t Pay Anything Upfront

One of the best things about hiring a vehicle accident lawyer is that they’re usually paid on a contingency basis. This means you don’t have to pay anything upfront—the lawyer gets paid once they’ve successfully settled or won your case. This can be a huge relief, as you won’t have to worry about how you will pay for legal representation.

You Can Focus on Your Recovery While Your Lawyer Handles the Legal Aspects

One of the biggest benefits of hiring a vehicle accident lawyer is that you can focus on your recovery while handling your case’s legal aspects, take some rest and do some light exercises recommended by your doctor, this is important to regain your energy and maintain a good mood. This leaves you free to concentrate on getting better while knowing that your legal needs are being taken care of.

Your lawyer will also be able to advise you on any potential financial compensation you may be entitled to. They will work diligently to get the best possible outcome for your case, which can result in a financial windfall for you and your family.

You May Be Able to Recover Damages That Insurance Doesn’t Cover

If you are involved in a car accident, you may be able to recover damages that are not covered by insurance. This is where a vehicle accident lawyer comes in. They will be able to represent you in court and help you get the compensation you deserve.

Here are some of the damages that may be recoverable: medical expenses; pain and suffering; loss of income; vehicle damage; and funeral expenses.

A Successful Case Can Set a Precedent for Future Cases

If your vehicle accident lawyer successfully wins your case, it can set a precedent for other victims of vehicle accidents in the future. This is a huge benefit, as it can help to improve the standard of care for victims and ensure that they are fairly compensated for their injuries.

Conclusion

You must know your legal rights and options if you’re ever in a vehicle accident. Hiring a vehicle accident lawyer is one of the best decisions you can make for your financial future. The financial benefits of hiring a vehicle accident lawyer are numerous, including:

    Karen Kinnane says

Lawyers, sometimes you need them! However, you don’t want a generalist which is a lawyer who does everything: divorce, dui, contracts, ambulance chasing, adoption, real estate, dog bite, elder law and labor relations because they generally don’t do anything well.

You want a specialist for real estate, you want a firm specializing in sex abuse cases, you want the best ambulance chaser and not someone who does the kind of law you need as a sideline. That said, you also want to be in charge of the outcome. MOST ambulance chasers depend upon volume and they want to settle your case as quickly as possible to get the money in their pipeline and get on to the next case. This is NOT in your best interest.

It’s up to you to use the Internet to find out approximately what amount of money your type of accident brings. Never take the first offer, never take the second offer. Once you get what your lawyer tells you is the final amount, you tell them you are happy to settle and name a higher figure.

My vehicle was hit from the rear by a company truck driven by a legal American citizen with a real driver’s license many years ago. I sustained injuries which kept me from work for some time and required an operation. The excellent lawyer, who was a specialist in ambulance chasing, called and told me cheerfully that he had negotiated a settlement of all my medical expenses, plus $80,000. of which he would get a third plus some deductions for printing copies and other paperwork. He was like a puppy excited that he had figured out how to fetch and bring me the toy.

I told him to contact me when the settlement would include a check for $100,000, in my name and no obligations to give him, his firm or anyone else money. Four days later I had the check for $100,000. and all his expenses were covered by the other insurance company.

Don’t settle for the first offer. Your lawyer would rather settle quick for less money and drop you for the next client. If I’d taken the settlement negotiated by my own lawyer I’d have gotten about $50,000 instead of $100,000. A successful settlement depends upon your choosing a professional ambulance chaser (not a generalist lawyer) and negotiating the amount and terms of the settlement to suit yourself.

If a lawyer represents you on a contingency basis you are pretty sure he/she knows there is a settlement in the works.

If several lawyers turn you down and refuse to represent you on a contingency basis, you know you have no case. If this happens do NOT hire a lawyer and pay them to sue as you are going to lose. A lawyer who says, “You can hire me to represent you” has just told you that you have no case but he is happy to take your cash.
