For many, working from home has become the new normal during the pandemic. It isn’t without its hiccups and hardships. Trying to concentrate as the kids draw on the walls or the neighbor mows their lawn outside your window doesn’t make for ideal working conditions.
But working from home has its perks. Besides the fact that you may now work in the comfort of your sweatpants, at-home work also affords you the opportunity to make income on the side. Since you have greater control over your working hours, you can use that flexibility to pursue additional sources of income.
And who couldn’t use a few extra dollars in the bank account as the global pandemic drags on? With that in mind, let’s explore three short-term ways you can make money as you work from home.
Sell Your Old Gold and Silver
Many people have jewelry, old coins, watches and more lying around collecting dust. As it turns out, now may be the perfect time to sell your gold and silver; that’s because in times of economic uncertainty, the price of precious metals (gold especially) tends to rise, as investors view them as a safe hedge against a falling dollar and unstable financial markets. This was certainly true throughout 2020 — and it’s even more so now!
Then again, the bullish gold market won’t last forever.
To take full advantage of the current price of gold, sell your old jewelry items now by partnering with a trustworthy and transparent gold and silver buyer. Find a buyer that will test your pieces for purity using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) and offer fair market prices.
Clear the Attic (You Might Be Surprised What You Find)
Precious metals may not be the only thing precious you have lying around. As part of your spring-cleaning regimen, check your attic and basement for collectibles items passed down by relatives or purchased in the past that you’ve since forgotten about.
You can find an extensive community of collectible buyers online, including extremely niche items. If you have old paper money or banknotes, you may also take them to your gold and silver buyer. The best gold and silver buyers tend to be interested in paper money as well.
Take Part in Paid Surveys and Market Research
Once you have sold the valuable items collecting dust in your home, turn your attention to earning income around your busy schedule. One simple way to add some cash to your bank account is to participate in paid surveys and market research online.
Companies are always looking for feedback and will pay a modest amount to crowdsource it. Completing surveys and market research may not pull in a lot of money, but they can be a fantastic way to supplement an existing income. Plus, the surveys themselves don’t take long. Spending all that time at home allows you to take inventory of the valuables you possess and then sell items you no longer use. It’s also an excellent opportunity to work additional sources of income into your daily schedule. Follow the three tips above to beef up your bank account while stuck at home.

Working from home offers so many ways to earn extra cash. Do you walk a mile or two a day or jog? Let a neighbor pay you to take his dog on a leash with you, for money. Great for the dog, great to have company and great to earn money for doing what you would do anyway. Why stop at the attic? How about cellar, garage, sheds, over crowded closets? With Facebook marketplace and no contact porch pick ups you can clean house and clean up financially? Scroll through FBM a few times and be AMAZED by what sells! Trade your trash for cash with Facebook marketplace!

The inflation genie is officially out of the bottle, Karen.
Now we get to watch the Fed struggle to rein it in — which is going to be impossible unless they raise interest rates significantly, which they won’t do because the US has too much debt.
