5 Simple Ways to Avoid Online Fraud

By Tex Freitag

You are just setting out in your online business venture or research work, and falling prey to online scams is the last thing on your mind. We know the Internet is a beehive of all sorts of information you could ever imagine. And as a beginner in the online business environment, you might find yourself running to your computer each time, trying to find ways to start up your online business, study better in school or conduct research for your project. That’s pretty normal; but there is danger involved, the risks of falling prey to online scams and become victims of these unscrupulous cyber criminals.

The challenge of how to avoid scams online is not easy to face. With that in mind, what is the best way to avoid fraud scams?

Scams target everyone

Anyone can become a victim if they let their guard down. The primary reason why scams succeed more than they fail is that they look like real and catch you when you least expected. Scammers usually outsmart others by taking advantage of new technology or twisting major events to create fantastic stories that will motivate innocent victims to do their bidding anytime.

Cybercrime has been around since the inception of the Internet, and there are good signs that it will continue, which means they will not fade away anytime soon. Hence, the earlier you learn how to avoid being scammed online, the better for you.

Here are five tips designed to make you more aware about online scams, and offer possible ways of avoiding them:

Avoid buying just any writing service. Many students, researchers, and business owners make use of writing services for different reasons. There is nothing wrong with buying an essay online. But if you don’t exercise caution, you might purchase a low-quality service that gives you little or no quality at all. Hence, before buying any paper writing service review, ensure you check for the authenticity of the site as well as the level and quality of its writing through relevant samples. Another good way to avoid scams from such sites is to check each review from the site and compare it to other information about the service.

Avoid fake marketing products that promise huge income. The Internet is flooded with counterfeit e-books, invalid videos, tapes, and other information that promise to show you how to make essay writing review a breeze. While surfing the Internet, have you ever come across headlines like “how to write your essay using this silly method”? We are not trying to condemn anyone using such a title for their ad. But lets face it; such captivating, yet false, headlines are what these fake Internet gurus use to capture their prey online.

Be careful when buying from e-commerce website. There are thousands of e-commerce website on the Internet where you can buy almost anything. But how can you distinguish between the fake and the real ones?

  • Check the URL to ensure it’s in the right format; if it’s slightly different, then be suspicious
  • Check the online store’s contact information to ensure it has an email address in their name; if it’s a Yahoo or Gmail account, run!
  • Prices that are too low to be true are a red flag

Be wary of dating sites. This particular type of cyber-fraud has cost many of their fortunes and even reaped them off their life savings. Love scams are now the new thing on the Internet. These scammers often use a deceitful picture and impersonate a personality they are not in real life. You should be careful not to fall prey to love scams, where someone you haven’t met professes love for you on the Internet; they are prevalent on almost all dating sites.

Minimize use of second-hand sales sites. There are various sites where you can sell and buy second-hand value goods. You should be careful not to fall victim to these criminals whenever you buy or sell online. Some of these sites harbor fake sellers who vanish the moment you transfer money to them and buyers who try to trick you into getting the product from you and fleeing with it without paying for it. Ensure you erase all data from your computer after each successful transaction you make online. This is vital to prevent hackers from gaining access to such details and using it to perpetuate fraud unknown to you.

Protecting yourself from online scams is not as tedious as you may think. The key to doing this yourself is to know how to prevent such occurrence. That is the focus of this guide to teach you how to avoid being scammed online.

    Dating site hint:
Search Renee Holland Soldier Internet Scam Nigeria or some variation. Women: lonely? homely? overweight? old? no one loves you? you want a soul mate? DO NOT BE AN IDIOT AND SEND MONEY TO SOME UNKNOWN INTERNET SITE. I have begun to think that anyone falling prey (actually throwing themselves to the scammers) deserves to have their money redistributed to those with more intelligence, cunning and good sense. Take the thousands of dollars you would send to the Nigerian scammers and spend it on yourself: get plastic surgery (Renee Holland sent $30,000 to her scammer!), lose weight, exercise, get a part time job, get a new outfit, get out and meet real people. You’re depressed? Want sincere, friendly company? Go to the local dog pound and walk one of those poor creatures on death row. They will love you for yourself and your attention. You’ll get unrequited love and exercise to banish depression (those endorphins stimulated by exercise) and firm up your shape. The second time you appear at the dog run gate to take that lonely, bored, doomed dog for a walk that dog will show you how thrilled he / she is to see you! Plus when you walk a dog people who like dogs stop to talk to you and pet the dog.
Len Penzo, and thousands of other intelligent people have warned against variations of the Nigerian bank scam for decades.
The clueless and gullible still happily give up hard earned money chasing an illusion and then expect sympathy because they have lost money and feel like a fool.
