Grandfather remembers when grandmother went to college.
Grandfather graduated in 1957 but Grandmother didn’t finish until 1974, age 40.
Each of us was raised in a working class, bible-believing family and it didn’t occur to us to get Grandmother a college education, at first.

I started college in 1969, flunked out, went to the Army, came back and finished in 1979 going part time on GI Bill along with working full time, and building our first house. Wife started same time, finished in 1980. We both went back and got a master’s by 1985, and she got her doctorate in 1992.

Well, Andy, I started law school at night while I was working in the patent office. More or less accidentally discovered the real estate boom of the 1960s, quit law school and concentrated on real estate ventures where I used the real estate while expanding.
Elaine made good use of her education, major, elementary education, minor music (her first love). She taught in two county scholl systems and taught piano privately, for years.
