As the <em>Epoch Times<\/em> reports, &#8220;California has the highest income tax rate in the country (top tier of 14.4%). It has the highest statewide sales tax rate (7.25%, plus local sales taxes). It has the highest gas tax rate ($0.78 per gallon). Yet, it ranks <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/opinion\/californias-latest-tax-idea-charge-drivers-by-the-mile-5664021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">third to last<\/a> in the country in terms of road quality.&#8221; Tell us about it; we live here. And with all the potholes, it makes us wonder where all the tax revenue is going. They ignored us, and here we are with the highest unemployment rate in the country poised to get even worse.\u201d Then again, this is what happens when clueless politicians and public sector bureaucrats who have never run a business of their own try to tell private sector companies how to do their job. With that in mind, the Treasury Department discontinued the issuance of $500 in 1969 due to lack of use &#8211; this was at a time when those $500 bills were worth multiple times what they are now. However, with prices continuing to soar, one Arizona Congressman has introduced a new bill that orders the Fed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegatewaypundit.com\/2024\/06\/rep-paul-gosar-proposes-issuance-500-bills-combat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reintroduce $500 bills<\/a> into circulation. On the other hand, nearly one in five renters fell behind on their rent in the past year, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/opinion\/renters-and-owners-live-in-separate-economies-5661769\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rents have soared<\/a> 20% since the pandemic. In fact, rent payments are up $400 for the average renter since 2021. Hmm. But you\u2019ll never see that in the mainstream media. Instead, it\u2019s all rainbows and unicorns &#8211; which means the subterfuge is intentional. Although there <em><strong>is<\/strong><\/em> a slight chance that the media is simply guilty of <em><strong>this<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/A_t62W_0fs4?si=wNudQbNImqwaziqN&amp;start=0&amp;end=52&amp;autoplay=0 title=\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> So &#8230; just how ugly <em><strong>is<\/strong><\/em> the economy? Well \u2026 nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/yourmoney\/consumer\/article-13392323\/store-closures-2024-family-dollar-99-cents-7-eleven-closures.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2600 store closings<\/a> were announced <em><strong>during the first four months of 2024<\/strong><\/em> alone. That includes some of America&#8217;s biggest names including Macy\u2019s, Walmart, Walgreens, Foot Locker and 7-Eleven, which have all announced that they already have, or will be boarding up some doors this year. At the same time, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gainesvillecoins.com\/blog\/gold-overtakes-euro-in-global-international-reserves\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gold\u2019s share is increasing<\/a>. In fact, steady central bank purchases of the yellow metal since 2009 has increased the precious metal\u2019s share of global international reserves to the detriment of fiat currencies. And now gold has surpassed the euro, with the next fiat currency to be challenged being the USD. Unfortunately, nobody seems to be paying attention &#8211; especially <em><strong>this<\/strong><\/em> guy &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cHwFT6c0rQc?si=6BVLYYyDVlivntOS&amp;start=128&amp;end=157&amp;autoplay=0 title=\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Not coincidentally, US banks are sitting on $517 billion in unrealized losses due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fdic.gov\/news\/speeches\/fdic-quarterly-banking-profile-first-quarter-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deteriorating Treasury bond portfolios<\/a>. How did we get here? Well \u2026 it all started with the birth of the petrodollar in 1972, which can be seen in the chart below. Keep in mind that the National Debt didn&#8217;t exceed $1 trillion until 1981 &#8211; and since then that number has doubled roughly every eight years. The debt is now $35 trillion &#8211; so it&#8217;s no wonder that gold&#8217;s share of global reserves has been increasing since 2015, as it&#8217;s becoming increasingly clear that the USD&#8217;s role as a reliable store of value is over. But that&#8217;s not true at all. Yes, it will result in a continuing decline of US living standards. However, as macro analyst Matthew Piepenburg observed this week, &#8220;America is slipping, but not ending. He notes that &#8220;the world wants <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gata.org\/node\/23251\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a reserve asset<\/a> that can\u2019t be frozen or stolen and that simultaneously retains &#8211; rather than loses &#8211; its (purchasing power).&#8221; Indeed it does. And, quite frankly, you should too.
