After a long run, the share of borrowers with a 30-day past-due missed payment against their credit accounts is rising again. Indeed, credit scores have been steadily improving over the past ten years, but increases in missed borrower payments and rising consumer debt levels are finally starting to take a toll. As a result, the national <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/03\/06\/credit-scores-decrease-for-the-first-time-in-a-decade-fico-reports.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">average credit score just fell<\/a> for the first time since 2014; according to a new report from FICO, the average American&#8217;s credit score is now 717 &#8211; which is considered good, but 23 points below the excellent threshold that guarantees the best loan rates. After a persistent bout of inflation topped out at 6% in 1970, inflation as measured by CPI fell back to slightly under 4% by the first quarter of 1973. That period from the late 1960s through the early 1970s is much like today; in both cases, politicians and central bankers celebrated the decline in the CPI. However, in late 1974 the CPI exploded to 12%. So &#8230; is a larger follow-on inflation surge in the cards this time around? The key difference this time is that oil prices are currently subdued, thereby keeping that second inflationary conflagration at bay. For now. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebeartrapsreport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">that may be changing<\/a>. In the meantime, the currency printing continues. You know what <em><strong>that<\/strong><\/em> means \u2026 auto insurance has actually risen at least 50% over the past year. In fact, a new report by <em>Bloomberg<\/em> reinforces the conventional wisdom that many middle class Americans are using debt just to maintain their standard of living. One 40-year old Denver resident who is carrying a monthly mortgage of $1650 &#8211; and $4000 in credit card debt &#8211; complained that, &#8220;I\u2019m making the most money I&#8217;ve ever made, and yet I\u2019m <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-03-15\/american-debt-stings-like-never-before-in-new-era-for-households\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">still living paycheck to paycheck<\/a>. There&#8217;s this wild disconnect between what people are experiencing and what economists are (reporting).\u201d You can say that again &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JKRu-xH58E8?controls=0&amp;start=12\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> Ironically, despite the high-flying property and stock markets, people like Mark Zuckerberg and Sam Altman are getting into defensive positions. According to Jonathan Rose, CEO of Genesis Gold Group, a trend has been taking shape over the past year: he says the wealthy &#8211; everyone from Zuckerberg and Altman to tech moguls and even pro athletes &#8211; are increasingly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/news\/10552605\/mark-zuckerberg-millionaires-doomsday-prepping-gold-election-cell-outages\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">purchasing gold<\/a> to protect their financial futures from a potential sharp devaluation of the US dollar (USD) &#8211; as if it hasn&#8217;t been devalued enough since the pandemic. Well &#8230; we think sagacious financial commentator Franklin Sanders hit upon the answer this week. He observed that, until recently, whenever the 10-year Treasury yield climbed, &#8220;gold trembled &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/the-moneychanger.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">but no more<\/a>. (On Monday) it rose 0.94% to 4.34% but gold never shuddered. Y\u2019all watch this going forward. (h\/t: thefunpost.com)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Unfortunately, the mainstream media loves to make a habit of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/03\/14\/why-doomsday-assets-like-gold-and-silver-are-doing-so-well.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mocking those<\/a> who wish to hold a little physical gold as \u201cdoomsday preppers.\u201d In one example, a recent article by <em>CNBC<\/em> predictably mocked the public\u2019s growing interest in the yellow metal as being dominated by \u201cdoomsday preppers\u201d and, heh, \u201cclimate change deniers\u201d who are &#8220;deeply disturbed by the complexity and ambiguity of modern life.\u201d Actually, <em><strong>most<\/strong><\/em> people purchase physical gold because they&#8217;re deeply disturbed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trillion-congress-budget-deal-democrats-gop-biden-38ed7713ae6436ee27c81ce62b0a9a7d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">financial damage<\/a> caused by ever-creeping socialism &#8211; The cop got out of his car and asked the driver to blow in a breath-analyzer tube to check his alcohol level. \u201dOh, no,\u201d the driver said. \u201dI can\u2019t do that. If I do that, I\u2019ll have an asthma attack and die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201dOK,\u201d said the officer, \u201dlet\u2019s go down to the station and you can pee in a cup to check your alcohol level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201dOh, no, I can\u2019t do that,\u201d said the driver. \u201cI\u2019m a diabetic and if I pee my blood sugar will go down so low that I might die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201dFine then,\u201d the cop replied, \u201clet\u2019s go to the station and take a blood test to check your alcohol level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201dOh, no, I can\u2019t do that,\u201d countered the driver. \u201cI\u2019m a hemophiliac and I\u2019ll never stop bleeding if you draw my blood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201dAll right then,\u201d said the officer. \u201cThen just step outside your car and walk this white line for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Again, the driver declined. \u201dOh, no, I\u00a0<em><strong>can\u2019t<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>do that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dWhy not?\u201d asked the cop.<\/p>\n<p>The driver replied, \u201dBecause I\u2019m drunk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>(h\/t: Susan)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Buy Me a Coffee?
