It looks like consumers are finally waking up, as the electric vehicle (EV) craze has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/opinion\/consumers-are-rejecting-the-great-reset-5554713\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">finally peaked<\/a>. In fact, growth in gasoline-powered cars is once again far higher than electrics, convincingly flipping a dubious trend that began last year. One analyst summed it up this way: consumers are realizing that EVs make for a &#8220;good second car, provided you\u2019re driving (locally), can charge it at home overnight, and you don\u2019t suddenly have to go out of town. It\u2019s a toy, sometimes a fun one, but not a real car. For that, you need gas.\u201d Uh huh. The batteries also only operate reliably in warm-weather locations. Now for the punchline: The world&#8217;s largest chocolate makers &#8211; Hershey Co. and Nestle &#8211; have yet to feel the full impacts of soaring prices because cocoa is bought well in advance. This means consumers will see a further increase in the prices of their favorite candy bars in 2024. But macro analyst Peter Schiff says such beliefs are \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=D_VBvItTTwQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a fantasy<\/a> that\u2019s just not going to happen &#8211; and the markets haven\u2019t come to terms with that.\u201d Okay &#8230; just don&#8217;t tell that to guys like <em><strong>this<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/452XjnaHr1A?controls=0&amp;start=13\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> For those of you not counting at home &#8211; or don\u2019t shop for food, buy fuel, or pay rent &#8211; more than 90% of the items tracked in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/12\/27\/economy\/inflation-2023-impacts-americans\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more expensive<\/a> than they were in February 2020, with most price increases landing north of 20% and some, like fuel and margarine, approaching 55%, while food prices are nearly 25% higher. In other words: Even if inflation finally returns to a far-more manageable level of 2% in 2024, the damage is done. Prices will <em><strong>not<\/strong><\/em> be returning to the pre-inflationary levels of 2020, and American living standards have fallen. Needless to say, the OMB is <em><strong>notorious<\/strong><\/em> for underestimating expenses and over-estimating revenues. For example, they estimated the 2023 debt servicing costs would be $663 billion; it was $980 billion &#8211; or off by about half. For fiscal 2024 they&#8217;re estimating that the fiscal deficit will be $2 trillion. In other words: It won\u2019t be a penny less than $3 trillion. And yet, these bureaucrats continue to be promoted. If only there was bit more pomp and circumstance &#8230; <em>(h\/t: AGXIIK via TF Metals Report)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8Qtgm5g5Gyo\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> Of course, as Jim Quinn opined this week, &#8220;The \u2018Haves,&#8217; who control the financial markets, media, and politicians, are ecstatic with the current paradigm, as the stock market hits new highs every day, while average Americans go <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theburningplatform.com\/2024\/01\/01\/corruption-chaos-conflict-fourth-turning-erupts-in-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deeper into debt<\/a> to keep up with the Joneses, put some food on the table, and pay the rent or buy a home. The US is nothing more than a sophisticated technological looting operation at this point, as we await the Great Taking to be initiated by the oligarchs.\u201d Well &#8230; we&#8217;ll see about that. This comes several months after Costco began selling 1-troy-ounce gold bars. Costco&#8217;s and Walmart&#8217;s gold rush comes as gold prices have soared 14% since early October to a new record high of $2088. Not surprisingly, the yellow metal always sells out shortly after hitting the shelves. According to a report from the Office of Financial Research (OFR) &#8211; a federal agency whose mandate is to keep federal regulators apprised of the true condition of the US banking system &#8211; the financial system is not only <a href=\"https:\/\/wallstreetonparade.com\/2024\/01\/federal-agency-study-contradicts-fed-chair-finds-banking-system-is-ripe-for-another-crisis-and-remains-fragile-and-uncertain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">primed for another crisis<\/a>, but its condition is \u201cfragile and uncertain.\u201d This is in complete disagreement with the Fed, which claimed last month that the system is fine. Bills filed in the Oklahoma and Missouri legislatures for consideration in 2024 would <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/u-states-bold-move-reclassify-160000905.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eliminate state capital gains taxes<\/a> on the sale of gold and silver. Currently, 42 states do not charge sales tax on gold and silver bullion. However, aside from nine US states that currently have no income tax, Oklahoma and Missouri would be the only ones that exempt bullion sales from capital gains taxes. Read until the end &#8230; you&#8217;ll laugh.<\/p>\n<p>This word in English has more meanings than any other two-letter word: &#8220;up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It is listed in the dictionary as an [adv.], [prep.], [adj.], [n] or [v].<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP?<\/p>\n<p>At a meeting, why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP, and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report? We call UP our friends, brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and fix UP the old car.<\/p>\n<p>At other times, this little word has a real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses.<\/p>\n<p>To be dressed is one thing, but to be dressed UP is special.<\/p>\n<p>And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP, because it is stopped UP.<\/p>\n<p>We open UP a store in the morning, but we close it UP at night. We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP!<\/p>\n<p>To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look UP the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost \u00bc of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions.<\/p>\n<p>If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don&#8217;t give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more.<\/p>\n<p>When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP. When the sun comes out, we say it is clearing UP. When it rains, the earth soaks it UP. When it does not rain for a while, things dry UP.<\/p>\n<p>One could go on and on, but I&#8217;ll wrap it up, for now. My time is UP!<\/p>\n<p>Oh &#8230; one more thing: What is the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing you do at night?
