When it comes to having financial security in retirement, <em>Shark Tank<\/em> star Kevin O\u2019Leary recommended this week that we should have at least <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/kevin-oleary-recommends-people-minimum-162036783.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a $5 million nest egg<\/a> to ensure we don\u2019t outlive our savings. Huh. Then again, I guess that\u2019s easy for him to say; O\u2019Leary\u2019s net worth is in the neighborhood of $400 million. At the same time, Fidelity says the average baby boomer 401(k) balance is $212,600, while the average retiree IRA account is $201,600. So if they don&#8217;t want to be eating cat food for dinner, they better pick up the pace. We&#8217;re just wondering: How does that compare to <em><strong>your<\/strong><\/em> situation? In fact, money supply has been contracting without interruption since turning negative in November 2022 for the first time in 28 years. Despite that, for some reason this week the Fed signaled to the rest of the world that it plans on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/now-it-all-makes-sense\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reducing rates<\/a> in the near future. And <em><strong>that<\/strong><\/em> sent stocks, bonds, housing and even gold sharply higher, thereby adding fuel to the &#8220;everything bubble&#8221; the Fed has been trying to deflate &#8211; not to mention inflation. No, really. It didn&#8217;t have to be this way, but ordinary people are now paying the price for a decade of easy money cheered by Wall St. and the profligates in DC. The only way toward a more stable long-term path is to stop (printing) money &#8211; that means a falling money supply and popping economic bubbles. Back then, he says, &#8220;The country was truly on the edge of disaster. Then, in the early 1980s, under Paul Volcker\u2019s leadership the Fed jacked interest rates up to over 20%. This stopped the inflation crisis but triggered a deflationary plunge that would sit like a giant boulder on the chest of the American consumer and small business owners for years to come. In other words, as bad as the situation is now, we haven\u2019t seen anything yet.&#8221; The truth hurts, I guess. And on that note: Merry Christmas to you too &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NpDsxXtLjEk?si=-JJErzn1MzBenjQl&amp;controls=0&amp;start=179&amp;end=255&amp;autoplay=0 title=\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Unfortunately, there is one big difference between today and the 1970s: A massive national debt that is now expanding at an exponential pace &#8211; the US added <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crfb.org\/press-releases\/national-debt-reaches-33-trillion-adds-1-trillion-debt-3-months\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$1 trillion to the National Debt<\/a> in just <em><strong>the last quarter<\/strong><\/em>. At that pace, the National Debt will top $40 trillion before the end of <em><strong>next year<\/strong><\/em>. For that reason alone, this time there is no way out. Where are these deficits going to go? And <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/spiraling-out-control-us-debt-crisis-goes-parabolic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">how are we going to finance them<\/a>? It&#8217;s not just the interest; it&#8217;s the principle. We have to repay over the next year one-third of that $34 trillion national debt. That means the people who own the bonds can ask for their money back. You know, so, and if nobody else wants to loan us the money, then where is it going to come from? Well, there&#8217;s only one source: the Fed, and that&#8217;s massive inflation.\u201d In other words: When it comes to higher prices, we ain&#8217;t seen nothin&#8217; yet. In fact, since the Russia-Ukraine war, central banks have been buying more than 2.5 times the prior quarterly average of the preceding decade. You know &#8230; it&#8217;s almost as if they know something is afoot with the current debt-based monetary system. And if they&#8217;re buying, shouldn&#8217;t you be thinking about buying some too?
