So with that in mind, let&#8217;s get this party started &#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Better three hours too soon than a minute too late.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>&#8211; William Shakespeare<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The future ain&#8217;t what it used to be.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>&#8211; Yogi Berra<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Credits and Debits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Did you see this? Thanks to surging energy costs, US consumer prices <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Business\/inflation-rises-significantly-86-year-year\/story?id=85307385\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">continued accelerating<\/a> in May, rising by a far-larger than expected 1.0%. That sent the government&#8217;s &#8220;official&#8221; inflation rate as measured by the CPI to a new cycle high of 8.6% year-over-year (YoY), which is its highest level since 1981 &#8211; and the 24th consecutive month that the CPI has increased from the previous month. Which should be no surprise to anyone who has to buy things in order to live. According to estimates by Bloomberg Economics, US households will spend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-03-29\/u-s-households-face-5-200-inflation-tax-this-year-chart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$5200 more<\/a> this year than they did last year on the same consumption basket &#8211; that&#8217;s $433 more extra each month. Now for the really bad news &#8230; those numbers are based on the misleading &#8220;official&#8221; inflation figure &#8211; not the one using the 1981 methodology. Regardless, the consumer is still in a pickle:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-73427\" src=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tweet-6-1-1024x994.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"524\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tweet-6-1-1024x994.png 1024w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tweet-6-1-300x291.png 300w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tweet-6-1-768x745.png 768w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tweet-6-1.png 1216w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Meanwhile, the &#8220;Almighty Dollar&#8221; &#8211; and the American Empire that it supports &#8211; are both in their waning days, with the US on the hook for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usdebtclock.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more than $200 trillion<\/a> in both funded an unfunded liabilities, versus a GDP of $24 trillion. Well &#8230; unless you think the rapidly-growing divergence between total debt and GDP as shown on the following chart is sustainable. (Psst. Because if you can&#8217;t trust the government, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_O3WhNn8Tqo&amp;t=338s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">why should you trust its money<\/a>?&#8221; Actually, it&#8217;s vice versa, Larry. But at this point, why quibble? Then again &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2XZsYHbBmYg?start=129&amp;end=200&amp;autoplay=0 title=\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Of course, the &#8220;Almighty Dollar&#8221; won&#8217;t enter its final act until the yen, euro and\/or yuan begin their inevitable implosions. And at the moment, the first candidate appears to be the Japan, where the yen is now at a 24-year low and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/japan-verge-systemic-collapse-dramatic-unpredictable-non-linearities-financial-markets-bank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">there are growing cracks<\/a> in its stock and bond markets. Why? Because, as Zero Hedge points out, &#8220;you can&#8217;t keep your 10-year yield at 0.25% and avoid a currency collapse in a scorching inflationary environment.&#8221; Imagine that.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-73429\" src=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tweet-3-1-642x1024.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"861\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tweet-3-1-642x1024.png 642w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tweet-3-1-188x300.png 188w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tweet-3-1-768x1225.png 768w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tweet-3-1-963x1536.png 963w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/tweet-3-1.png 1216w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Frankly, the situation in the Land of the Rising Sun is so bad that, in what will ultimately prove to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/now\/yen-hits-key-135-level-010546618.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a futile attempt<\/a> to hold interest rates down for as long as possible before the final implosion, the Bank of Japan has flipped its printing presses from overdrive to <em><strong>hyperdrive<\/strong><\/em> &#8211; the economic equivalent of the Fed printing $300 billion per <em><strong>month<\/strong><\/em>. For an example of just how much wealth is at risk, consider this: In 1996 the market value of all stocks held by American households and US nonprofits stood at $10 trillion. Three years later &#8211; near the top of the Dot Com bubble &#8211; that figure stood at $20 trillion before <a href=\"https:\/\/fcic-static.law.stanford.edu\/cdn_media\/fcic-reports\/fcic_final_report_conclusions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">falling back<\/a> to $11 trillion after the crash. Then, less than a decade later, <em><strong>another<\/strong><\/em> $11 trillion worth of wealth was wiped out during the Great Financial Crisis (GFC) of 2008. To get a flavor for just how much worse, we need to fast forward to 2019, when the market value of all stocks held by American households and nonprofits was $54 trillion; today, it&#8217;s $80 trillion. That&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/wallstreetonparade.com\/2022\/06\/these-charts-show-the-wealth-devastation-to-u-s-investors-from-wall-streets-unchecked-corrupt-practices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a $26 trillion increase<\/a> &#8211; in just <em><strong>three<\/strong><\/em> years. If just <em><strong>half<\/strong><\/em> of that increase was retraced in a bear market, that would result in more than $13 trillion of lost wealth. Hey &#8230; I think I hear something in the distance. Could it be? Well &#8230; <em><strong>whatever<\/strong><\/em> it is, the music is getting louder. <em>(h\/t: Ghostbuck via TF Metals Report)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ILK7z1gwdSc?controls=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> And to think all is this is happening because the Fed has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/livecoverage\/federal-reserve-meeting-interest-rates-june-2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scared the markets<\/a> by &#8220;daring&#8221; to raise the Fed Funds rate by just 75 basis points to a figure that&#8217;s <em><strong>still<\/strong><\/em> less than 2% &#8211; despite inflation raging near 17%. Can you imagine where the markets &#8211; and the economy &#8211; will end up if the Fed ever raised rates high enough to actually save the dollar? After all, the Dow is now in the midst of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/hawkish-fed-sparks-dows-worst-streak-ever-crypto-crude-credit-crushed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unprecedented downturn<\/a> that has seen it finish 11 of the past 12 weeks in the red. Instead they&#8217;ll offer <a href=\"https:\/\/kingworldnews.com\/greyerz-is-the-world-entering-a-singularity-event-that-will-change-our-civilization-to-the-extent-that-it-will-become-unrecognizable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more pain<\/a> in the form of higher rates and more tightening. Of course, the Fed will panic at some point by lowering rates and injecting more fake money into the system &#8211; but it will be much too late, as no amount of fake money can save a system which is morally and financially bankrupt.&#8221; Indeed.
