After news broke that US inflation hit a 31-year high in October, billionaire investor Ray Dalio quickly took to social media to <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/billionaire-ray-dalio-misery-turbulence-183900609.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sound the alarm<\/a>. &#8220;The US now is spending a lot more than it&#8217;s earning, and paying for it by printing money that is being devalued.&#8221; Thanks for that, Captain Obvious.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Untitled-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-69955\" src=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Untitled-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"538\" height=\"449\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Untitled-1.png 1212w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Untitled-1-300x250.png 300w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Untitled-1-1024x855.png 1024w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Untitled-1-768x641.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 538px) 100vw, 538px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> After Mr. Dalio finished pointing out what most people with a pulse already knew, he then added this ominous truth: &#8220;History shows that when an individual, organization, country, or empire spends more than they earn, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/ebauer\/2020\/07\/06\/how-the-weimar-hyperinflation-really-went-downand-why-that-matters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">misery and turbulence are ahead<\/a>.&#8221; As you can see, billionaires wear tin foil hats too. Well &#8230; at least the ones who pay attention:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/16_6XrPlV-w?start=0&amp;end=39&amp;autoplay=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> The right path would be to immediately decrease the size of the federal government, reduce federal spending, and raise interest rates &#8211; but that will never happen. Last week the European Central Bank (ECB) all but confirmed this; they announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/kingworldnews.com\/bullion-banks-gold-shorts-hit-record-60-billion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a rate hike is unlikely<\/a> in 2022 despite rising inflationary pressures. They also warned that the housing market would crash if rates are forced to rise, as well as dire consequences for the over-leveraged EU banking sector. So on we go! How absurd has the stock market become? Well &#8230; when it comes to the S&amp;P 500, Bank of America analyst Savita Subramanian found that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/market-makes-sense-if-earnings-grow-19-perpetuity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stocks are massively overvalued<\/a> on 20 separate criteria with two exceptions: both forward and trailing price-to-earnings (P\/E) growth. Somebody must have been listening; on Friday the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/11\/26\/stock-futures-open-to-close-market-news.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P and the Dow both fell<\/a> more than 2%. Apparently, markets actually <em><strong>can<\/strong><\/em> go down.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-27Nov2021-3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-69966\" src=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-27Nov2021-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"538\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-27Nov2021-3.png 1222w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-27Nov2021-3-300x217.png 300w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-27Nov2021-3-1024x739.png 1024w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-27Nov2021-3-768x554.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 538px) 100vw, 538px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> To put that in more quantifiable terms, Subramanian says that &#8220;those who point to the S&amp;P 500&#8217;s attractive P\/E-to-LTG ratio &#8211; better known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/p\/pegratio.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the PEG ratio<\/a> &#8211; are forecasting impossible growth expectations, rather than low valuations.&#8221; That is, unless you consider long-term growth of 19% to be normal &#8211; which it&#8217;s not. In fact, Subramanian notes that figure is so absurd that it&#8217;s even &#8220;well above lofty Tech Bubble expectations.&#8221; Then again, if the Fed keeps printing the dollar into oblivion, <em><strong>anything<\/strong><\/em> is possible &#8211; at least in nominal terms.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> But as market analyst Larry McDonald pointed out this week, &#8220;S&amp;P 500 earnings <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/we-are-mass-jonestown-delusion-territory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">growth expectations don&#8217;t jive<\/a> with real evidence of demand destruction, with BofA saying that &#8216;today&#8217;s (PEG ratio) suggests losses of 20% over the next 12 months.&#8217; So it&#8217;s a deer-in-the-headlights moment for Wall Street.&#8221; Which should never be confused with a deer-in-the-garage moment &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2yPrvrebQI8?controls=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> In April, Goldman Sachs predicted that inflation would be back to 2% in December &#8211; but with only a couple of days left until the final month of the year, that optimistic prediction is going to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investors.com\/news\/inflation-rate-2021-us-economy-stock-market-risks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wildly off the mark<\/a>. In fact, as McDonald observes, the inflation rate &#8220;is normalizing at a much higher trajectory &#8211; and that&#8217;s all that matters for consumers. We&#8217;re in mass Jonestown delusion territory.&#8221; Heh. The jaw-dropping answer is: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsmineset.com\/2021\/11\/19\/42337\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">almost $400 trillion<\/a>. Which begs the question: How can the world be swimming in a red-ink sea of nearly a half-quadrillion bucks, when total past gold production and known reserves are only $15 trillion? Clearly, the numbers don&#8217;t add up &#8211; unless the dollar price of gold is revalued significantly higher.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/untitled.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-69952 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/untitled.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"538\" height=\"866\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/untitled.png 870w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/untitled-186x300.png 186w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/untitled-636x1024.png 636w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/untitled-768x1236.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 538px) 100vw, 538px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> In the meantime, the reckless spending continues. Last week the US passed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/15\/1055841358\/biden-signs-1t-bipartisan-infrastructure-bill-into-law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a $1.5 trillion infrastructure boondoggle<\/a>. Assuming it&#8217;s like the last one that was passed a decade ago, only 10% will actually go to infrastructure. The rest will be wasted on politicians and their cronies, and the economy will get very little bang for the buck, other than adding to the National Debt. That being said, the Treasury isn&#8217;t the only place that&#8217;s ripe for looting &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-27Nov2021-0.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-69931\" src=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-27Nov2021-0-896x1024.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"537\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-27Nov2021-0-896x1024.png 896w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-27Nov2021-0-263x300.png 263w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-27Nov2021-0-768x878.png 768w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/tweet-27Nov2021-0.png 1232w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 537px) 100vw, 537px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> As the inimitable MN Gordon points out, unfortunately, &#8220;100 years of democratic mob rule has devolved to self-cannibalization; the elites consume the productivity of working and middle class Americans, while <a href=\"https:\/\/economicprism.com\/boondoggle-democracy-for-the-elites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">indenturing future offspring<\/a> to debt servitude. After stuffing their faces at the public trough, they toss dog scraps to placate the mob.&#8221; Yes, but scraps or no scraps, just wait until the public finally realizes that there&#8217;s no such thing as a free lunch. If the 10-year Treasury note jumps to over 15% like it did in 1981 to counteract raging inflation, then net interest rate payments would likely be made entirely with borrowed money. This, along with mass currency debasement, is where self-cannibalization ultimately leads.&#8221; Uh huh. And you thought fast food was bad.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> This week, macroeconomist Alasdair Macleod wrapped up the current dire monetary situation we&#8217;re all facing this way: &#8220;Unless currency expansion is stopped completely, there&#8217;ll come a point where consumers finally realize that it&#8217;s not prices rising, but the currency&#8217;s purchasing power falling. The banker then took a form from his desk drawer and began questioning the old man.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You said you need $500. What exactly are you going to do with the money?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Buy silver, make jewelry, then sell it,&#8221; the Native American responded.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Okay. And what have you got for collateral?&#8221; asked the banker.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Don&#8217;t know collateral,&#8221; replied the old man.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Well &#8230; collateral is something of value that you provide us with to cover the cost of the loan if you fail to repay,&#8221; said the banker. &#8220;For instance, have you got any vehicles?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yes; a &#8217;79 Chevy pickup,&#8221; replied the old man.<\/p>\n<p>The banker shook his head, &#8220;I&#8217;m very sorry but, unfortunately, that simply won&#8217;t do. How about livestock?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have a horse back on the reservation,&#8221; replied the old man.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How old is it?&#8221; the banker enquired.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Don&#8217;t know; has no teeth,&#8221; replied the old man.<\/p>\n<p>The conversation went on like this for a while, but eventually the banker decided to grant the $500 loan to the old man.<\/p>\n<p>Several weeks later the old man returned to the bank.<\/p>\n<p>He pulled out a very large roll of $100 bills from his pocket. &#8220;Here to pay,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>He then handed the banker five $100 bills to repay his loan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Business has been good I can see!&#8221; said the banker. &#8220;So &#8230; what are you going to do with the rest of that money?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Keep it close to me,&#8221; the old man responded.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But that&#8217;s a lot of cash. Why don&#8217;t you just deposit it in my bank?&#8221; the banker enquired.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Don&#8217;t know deposit,&#8221; replied the old man.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Well,&#8221; the banker responded, &#8220;you just put the money in our bank and we will take good care of it for you.
