Whoever wants it back has no brain.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>&#8212; Vladimir Putin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Credits and Debits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Did you see this? Modern Land China, a Chinese developer that uses green-tech for real estate projects became <a href=\"https:\/\/insiderpaper.com\/chinese-developer-modern-land-becomes-4th-real-estate-company-to-default\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the fourth builder to default<\/a>, joining Fantasia Holdings, Sinic Holdings, and China Properties which have already defaulted on offshore bonds this month, and Evergrande, which is in a state of technical default. After all, Hui has amassed a fortune of more than $42 billion. Unfortunately for him, Evergrande is underwater to the tune of more than $300 billion. Well &#8230; as Confucius famously said, &#8220;easy come, easy go.&#8221; At least I think that was him.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> In other news, just when you thought the insanity couldn&#8217;t get any worse, it appears that there is now <a href=\"https:\/\/mishtalk.com\/economics\/nancy-pelosi-says-a-wealth-tax-on-billionaires-unrealized-gains-is-on-the-way\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">enough support<\/a> in Congress to actually institute a tax on unrealized gains on assets such as stocks and home values. And while the pols insist the tax will only be applied to the very richest people in America, the very same promise was made when the original income tax law was enacted. For example, how will this work exactly? Will unrealized gains affect retirement plans? And can unrealized gains be offset by unrealized losses? In the meantime, here&#8217;s hoping Congress will consider letting everybody pay their taxes with their unrealized <strong><em>income<\/em><\/strong>. Did you know that she&#8217;s in favor of &#8211; among other things &#8211; moving <em><strong>all<\/strong><\/em> commercial bank deposits into accounts at the Fed, and then allowing the Fed to <a href=\"https:\/\/wallstreetonparade.com\/2021\/10\/bidens-nominee-omarova-has-a-published-plan-to-move-all-bank-deposits-to-the-fed-and-let-the-new-york-fed-short-stocks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confiscate those deposits<\/a> in &#8216;extreme circumstances&#8217;? She is. Did you also know that she was born in the Soviet Union and attended Moscow State University on a Lenin Personal Academic scholarship? It&#8217;s okay if stores run out of PlayStations and Nerf Blasters &#8211; but if food shelves start going bare, this could be problematic. Remember what happened in the Soviet Union right before it collapsed?&#8221; I do. More to the point: It&#8217;s a claim that&#8217;s more suited for the pages of old Soviet rags such as <em>Pravda<\/em> or <em>Izvestia<\/em> &#8230; as this guy would surely attest:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QboXCnKpgtU?start=47&amp;end=121&amp;autoplay=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> By the way, one of the biggest international port operators predicts that supply chain disruptions could last for another two years. Maybe that&#8217;s why a growing number of companies are transitioning from just-in-time delivery to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-10-16\/just-in-time-economy-becoming-a-problem-for-europe-lagarde-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">just-in-case inventory<\/a>, which allows more inventory to be stored and helps ensure future orders are filled. Yikes. It&#8217;s also much more expensive. If they react to persistently hot inflation readings with tough talk but no action, their credibility may wither. And if the tapering promised for November triggers falling stock and bond prices &#8211; a very likely event in our opinion &#8211; then the Fed will take the blame, also damaging its credibility.&#8221; Credibility? <em><strong>What<\/strong><\/em> credibility? That clown car left the building a long long time ago. In fact, here it is now:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=476&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fdrivetribe%2Fvideos%2F467777656935711%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=476&amp;t=0\" width=\"476\" height=\"476\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Speaking of <a href=\"https:\/\/money.usnews.com\/investing\/news\/articles\/2021-10-24\/yellen-says-us-has-options-to-raise-revenue-to-pay-for-build-back-better-bill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">withering credibility<\/a>, Reuters reported this week that &#8220;Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said the United States is not losing control of inflation,&#8221; and that she expects supply chains and inflation to return to normal by the second half of next year. Close, Mr. Reporter &#8230; but not quite:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/tweet-30Oct2021-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-69426\" src=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/tweet-30Oct2021-1-1024x1012.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"537\" height=\"531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/tweet-30Oct2021-1-1024x1012.png 1024w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/tweet-30Oct2021-1-300x297.png 300w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/tweet-30Oct2021-1-768x759.png 768w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/tweet-30Oct2021-1.png 1228w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 537px) 100vw, 537px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> Of course, everyone knows the Fed can&#8217;t afford to reverse course as quickly as it did the last time it attempted balance sheet normalization and rate hikes in 2018 without again embarrassing itself. As a result, Hathaway says, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/williampesek\/2021\/08\/27\/why-jerome-powell-could-be-trapped-at-zero-for-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Fed can only lose<\/a> the upcoming game of chicken. The question is: How much market and economic damage precedes the inevitable pivot?&#8221; As if the damage inflicted up to this point hasn&#8217;t been enough.
