It&#8217;s going to open up eventually.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>&#8212; Ezekiel Elliott<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Credits and Debits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Did you see this? The <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> reported this week that, &#8220;the number of unemployment-benefit recipients is falling at a faster rate in Missouri and 21 other states canceling enhanced and extended payments this month, suggesting that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/americans-are-leaving-unemployment-rolls-more-quickly-in-states-cutting-off-benefits-11624786202\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ending the aid<\/a> could push more people to take jobs.&#8221; Wait &#8230; so discontinuing benefits that pay people more <em><strong>not<\/strong><\/em> to work, actually encourages them to get off the couch and find an employer? Imagine that.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> In other news, I see that last week the Russell 2000 rebalanced its index of small company stocks. Unfortunately, it appears as if the reshuffling has resulted in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/russell-bursting-money-losing-zombies-after-todays-rebalance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">further deterioration<\/a> in quality of the Russell 2000 Index&#8217;s components because the proportion of money-making companies in the index is now at its lowest level since 2000. Not surprisingly, with the Fed continuing to backstop the market, that doesn&#8217;t seem to have investors worried.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Stocks heading to the next room in your house..bullish<\/p>\n<p>Djdent (@DjdentDavid) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DjdentDavid\/status\/1410608932217708554?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 1, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Thanks to the Fed&#8217;s continued suppression of interest rates, buyers don&#8217;t seem too concerned about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/personal-finance\/us-home-prices-just-accelerated-their-fastest-pace-record\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">skyrocketing home prices<\/a> either. In fact, most US cities are seeing home prices appreciate at double digits; nationally, year-over-year prices in America&#8217;s 20 largest cities climbed 14.6% in April &#8212; that&#8217;s the biggest gain ever. Yes; even bigger than the last housing bubble mania peak in September 2005. And yet the Fed continues to buy $40 billion of mortgage backed securities every month.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It&#8217;s hockey (stick) season!<\/p>\n<p>Basil &#8220;Patrick Star&#8221; Fawlty (@InncentBystndr) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/InncentBystndr\/status\/1409946918051106822?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 29, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> One thing is certain: almost every datapoint that was released by the government this week has pointed towards a stagflationary environment; perhaps the biggest of them all was the June manufacturing survey. It showed that inflation-adjusted manufacturing prices last month reached <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/u-s-manufacturing-sector-expanded-sharply-in-june-but-supply-woes-persisted-ism-271625150074\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">their highest level since 1973<\/a>, when an oil crisis was causing havoc with America&#8217;s economy. See for yourself:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Now there are mile long lines for McDonalds.<\/p>\n<p>J (@J2021__) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/J2021__\/status\/1410604777273126931?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 1, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> This week, Thor Bishop of the sound-money advocate, Mises Institute, warned that Americans should be worried about &#8220;the degree to which the Fed is counting on (jawboning) as <a href=\"https:\/\/mises.org\/power-market\/fed-trying-gaslight-world-it-wont-work-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a vital tool<\/a> to prevent a financial crisis.&#8221; In fact, Bishop notes that the Fed has been relying on propaganda to control the market &#8220;for a long time.&#8221; Very true. Unfortunately, it looks like somebody forgot to the tell that to the steel market:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-67530\" src=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Steel-price-2020-2021-1024x851.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"533\" height=\"443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Steel-price-2020-2021-1024x851.png 1024w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Steel-price-2020-2021-300x249.png 300w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Steel-price-2020-2021-768x638.png 768w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Steel-price-2020-2021-1536x1277.png 1536w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Steel-price-2020-2021.png 1612w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 533px) 100vw, 533px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Of course, Bishop says there&#8217;s also secondary reason behind the Fed jawboning: &#8220;Convince the public that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/federal-reserve-inflation-interest-rates-2023-ec134eac-8e72-403d-8f8f-f5c198cc1fa3.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">there&#8217;s nothing to fear<\/a> because the experts have things covered. Inflation is temporary; growth is coming. All is well &#8212; no matter the economic struggles you yourself may be feeling. Doing otherwise would itself spark the very sort of crisis that the Fed fears.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Similar reasoning: in any given year, the median person doesn&#8217;t die. Therefore life expectancy is infinite<\/p>\n<p>Ken Alexander (@Beyond__My_Ken) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Beyond__My_Ken\/status\/1410245742170558465?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 30, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> Don&#8217;t tell that to BoA&#8217;s Chief Investment Strategist, Michael Hartnett. This week he said he was fascinated that &#8220;so many deem inflation as transitory when stimulus, economic growth, and asset, commodity, and housing inflation is deemed permanent&#8221; &#8212; which is why he expects <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/bofa-crashes-transitory-party-sees-4-years-hyperinflation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">soaring prices<\/a> to last four years. Frankly, I think the current monetary system will be up in smoke long before that. But, hey &#8230; maybe he&#8217;s an optimist &#8212; like this guy:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3dO8lbDDigU?controls=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> This week, portfolio manager, Paul Lobosco, pointed out that &#8220;The Fed&#8217;s balance sheet is now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/update\/urn:li:activity:6813471347272937472\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">north of $8 trillion<\/a>. That&#8217;s $8 trillion of assets the market could not bear; $8 trillion of anti-free market extractionism. As it continues to skyrocket, look for them to remove that chart from their website to (hide) how much they&#8217;ve had to print to keep the system afloat.&#8221; What? That&#8217;s crazy talk! I mean, you don&#8217;t see the Fed <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/tags\/series?t=discontinued\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">discontinuing<\/a> their most-revealing money supply charts, do you? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kitco.com\/news\/2021-04-06\/Is-the-Fed-hiding-something-Why-weekly-money-supply-data-just-got-discontinued-Steve-Hanke.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oh, wait<\/a> &#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Same reason FRED discontinued Total Credit Market Debt? Being fiscally responsible shouldn&#8217;t be too difficult. But add <a href=\"https:\/\/fee.org\/articles\/the-federal-reserve-embraces-leftwing-policies-why-you-shouldn-t-be-surprised\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">political shenanigans<\/a>, lobbying, and human nature to the mix, and you&#8217;ve got the makings of something very sinister. Here&#8217;s the rub: money has no axe to grind. It just has a way of getting even.&#8221; Uh huh. Speaking of getting even &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GT-KEL7Uwlk?start=1&amp;end=30&amp;autoplay=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Unfortunately, there&#8217;s no way out for the Fed; they can only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gold-eagle.com\/article\/richard-russell-markets-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">inflate the debt away, or crash the system<\/a>. The only unknown is the timing, and that depends on how long the markets will continue pretending that the Fed has other, more palatable, alternatives. Believe it or not, that pig actually ran for help. He saved my life!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And that&#8217;s how he lost his leg?&#8221; the neighbor drawled.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nope.
