In 2016, <em><strong>real<\/strong><\/em> median US household income &#8212; remember, that means it&#8217;s adjusted for inflation &#8212; was $62,898. Believe it or not, that was just $257 higher than what it was <em><strong>almost two decades earlier<\/strong><\/em>, back in 1999. No, really. The good news is, during the next three years it climbed 9.2% to $68,703. Not too shabby!<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Real median household income by year:<\/p>\n<p>1999: $62,600<br \/>\n2016: $62,898<br \/>\n2019: $68,700<\/p>\n<p>American workers finally got a raise (and a nice one) after a decade and a half of flat wages.<\/p>\n<p>Amazing what tax cuts can do. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qcgTijbpwP\">pic.twitter.com\/qcgTijbpwP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jon Miltimore (@miltimore79) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/miltimore79\/status\/1326997861104558083?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 12, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Despite the wage increase, Fed Chair Jerome Powell says he&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centralmaine.com\/2020\/11\/17\/the-latest-87-year-old-sen-grassley-in-quarantine-after-virus-exposure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not very optimistic<\/a> about the future &#8212; especially for people in the service industries.&#8221;We&#8217;re not going back to the same economy,&#8221; he says. &#8220;We&#8217;re going back to a different economy.&#8221; Whatever that means. As for the Fed&#8217;s printing presses, which continue to be stuck in overdrive, Powell insists that, &#8220;the time for fiscal discipline is not now.&#8221; Okay. But when was it ever?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> One sure sign of America&#8217;s rotten economy is its floundering airline industry. With <a href=\"https:\/\/wolfstreet.com\/2020\/10\/14\/airlines-toxic-mix-still-crushed-ticket-sales-lower-ticket-prices-delta-q3-passenger-revenues-86-percent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">airline passenger volumes in the US still down<\/a> &#8212; 65% in October from last year &#8212; airline ticket prices have crashed, increasing worries that the airlines&#8217; revenue streams won&#8217;t be enough to service existing debts. Imagine that.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Of course, with air carriers in such dire straits, it should be no surprise that some analysts are estimating that the airlines only have between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/us-airlines-cut-90000-workers-years-end-demand-slumps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">nine and 11 months<\/a> of cash available in reserve to keep them flying at their current burn rate. If they say so. Then again, it&#8217;s always important to be aware of those who know &#8212; and those who don&#8217;t &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BVMY-VX7NyA?controls=0&amp;start=25;end=145\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> Market analyst Dave Kranzler isn&#8217;t surprised. He says, &#8220;In all likelihood, the economy is much weaker that it appears from stimulus-juiced economic reports that emerged over the summer. Auto- and new-home-sales are already <a href=\"https:\/\/investmentresearchdynamics.com\/recent-economic-data-more-fiction-than-fact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">starting to roll over<\/a> precipitously &#8212; with the stock market historically overvalued.&#8221; True. But there&#8217;s no need to be a worrywart when the Fed has our backs. Why? Because, &#8220;perpetuating <a href=\"https:\/\/economicprism.com\/loathe-for-the-stimulus-era\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the lie of printing press money<\/a> is not a means for long term prosperity. It steals from tomorrow by loading up future generations with debt. It steals from yesterday by debasing the dollar. It distorts and disfigures prices in crude and offensive ways. It also finances unlimited government.&#8221; Yes &#8230; but other than that, it works wonders.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> Of course, it&#8217;s no coincidence that the US Federal deficit has <a href=\"https:\/\/goldsilver.com\/blog\/is-price-inflation-guaranteed-now-these-two-charts-say-yes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">never been this high<\/a> in recorded history. In fact, it&#8217;s more than twice the level of the Great Financial Crisis of 2008. See for yourself:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-63821\" src=\"http:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Deficit-US-1900-2020.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"532\" height=\"374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Deficit-US-1900-2020.png 551w, https:\/\/lenpenzo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Deficit-US-1900-2020-300x211.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 532px) 100vw, 532px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Debit:<\/strong><\/span> By the way, for those of you counting at home, the federal government just ran <a href=\"https:\/\/schiffgold.com\/peters-podcast\/peter-schiff-can-america-really-take-a-paid-vacation-funded-by-uncle-sam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a $284 billion deficit<\/a> in October. Not surprisingly, that&#8217;s the highest October budget gap in American history too. Unfortunately for all of us, what they say is true: sow the wind, reap the whirlwind. So you better be ready &#8212; because it&#8217;s coming &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WEH4Tj-eQa0?controls=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> So where to hide? Well &#8230; this week billionaire John Malone said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/markets\/billionaire-malone-buying-hard-assets-farmland-fears-inflationary-dollar-debasement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">he&#8217;s protecting himself<\/a> from the Fed&#8217;s ongoing dollar debasement by diversifying into hard assets, multi-family housing, and irrigated farms. &#8220;So now I&#8217;m growing potatoes,&#8221; he says. Frankly, potato farming makes perfect sense for somebody who no longer trusts the dollar &#8212; and you can bet Mr. Malone won&#8217;t be cashing in his, ahem, chips until we have a new currency.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> Thankfully, there&#8217;s an easier &#8212; and far more flexible &#8212; way to preserve wealth than buying a farm: physical precious metals. To equal gold&#8217;s 1980 price peak of $850, a single ounce of the yellow metal would have to reach almost $20,000. Even more astounding, <a href=\"https:\/\/kingworldnews.com\/greyerz-silver-will-have-to-hit-950-to-equal-the-1980-high\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the inflation-adjusted price of silver<\/a> would have to be $950 to match its 1980 high of $50. I know it seems absurd &#8212; but when the world finally abandons the dollar for good, those prices will be a bargain.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Credit:<\/strong><\/span> Oh &#8230; and Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
