You know, they say a milestone is anything that gives you a personal sense of accomplishment and helps you move forward. Amazingly enough, after just over six months I reached an important blogging milestone of my own today: post number 100! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Okay, roughly ten of those posts merely link to other content, but the rest contain at least a smattering of original stuff. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

It’s been a lot of work at times, but I have loved every minute behind this keyboard and if I could find a way to turn this avocation of mine into a vocation, well, I surely would. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

From the beginning, my goal for this blog has been to present topics predominantly, but not always, related to personal finance in an informative and uniquely entertaining way. So far, I think I have done a pretty good job, although there are a few posts that I consider to be a bit short of my expectations.<\/p>\n

I’m very excited to see what the next half of the year will bring, as I still have a lot of great ideas in my head that I am eager to try out! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

At least I think they are great ideas; I realize that, ultimately, the final arbiter will be you.<\/p>\n

Before I go I thought I would toot my own party horn just a little more and highlight my six favorite posts from the past six months. If you have some free time, I’d really be much obliged if you check one or two of them out! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Len’s Top Six Favorite Posts (So Far)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A Few Minutes With Personal Finance Genius Rich Livingston – In their summary of top personal finance posts for the week, Political Calculations linked to this post (which was not solicited by me) saying, “We know what you’re thinking: ‘Who’s Rich Livingston?’ and probably also ‘Who’s Len Penzo?'” Did they really have to rub it in? Still, this post epitomizes what I want this blog to be. A unique, and hopefully fun, read that tries to teach a lesson or two about personal finance along the way.<\/p>\n

Why Coke Rewards Is For Suckers<\/a> – I wrote this one evening in a fit of rage after I had been screwed over by the Coke Rewards program for the umpteenth time. I was very pleased with the writing.<\/p>\n

If Arnold Schwarzenegger Was My Household CEO<\/a> – One of my earliest posts that I think successfully leveraged three of my favorite pastimes: politics, personal finance, and famous movie quotes from Arnold. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

My Kids’ Loan Interview with the Bank of Dad<\/a> – One day I had the bright idea to do a real interview with my 11- and 9-year old kids in order to ascertain just how much they they really understood about money and personal finances. I swear that what is printed is the actual interview transcript. Honestly, there is just no way I could make some of those answers up. Although I wish I could. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Stop the Bailouts and Let the Bankruptcy Process Do Its Job<\/a> – Sometimes I do like to get on my soap box and get really serious. I actually started blogging because I was tired of having all of my op-ed pieces rejected by all of the major newspapers. Needless to say, I was exceptionally surprised and honored when the Huffington Post featured this article on their front page.<\/p>\n

Ten (Extremely) Out-of-the-Box Ideas for Saving Money<\/a> – I wrote this article as a parody of the umpteen-thousand personal finance posts that are written every day. But this April Fool’s Day piece actually got me a couple of letters from some readers who apparently didn’t get it. Still, I manage to get a chuckle every time I go back and read it. I understand – your mileage may vary. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
