How Innovative Video Conferencing Platforms Reduce Small Business Costs

By Enero Febrero

surfing the netSaying that running a small business is a difficult task is like saying the ocean is a little wet. Understatements aside, the fact of the matter is that any organization have to make the most of its limited budget if it wants to remain viable in the modern marketplace. Innovative video conferencing platforms can help your small business save much needed funds and employee expenditure at the same time. Here’s why:

Say Goodbye to Travel Expenses

One of the biggest drawbacks of meetings is associated travel expenses. Whether it’s daily meal stipends, plane tickets or hotels, the bills can add up quickly. Because of the major strain caused by these costs, it makes sense to target these expenses as first on the chopping block when trying to trim your budget to a more manageable level.

June Bower of Mashable points out that video conferencing comes with none of these stifling expenditures. Since you’re already paying for the basic utilities, like electricity and Internet access, the only costs associated with conducting the exact same meeting from your own conference room or office comes in the form of implementing a system like Blue Jeans business video conferencing.

Removing Indirect Costs

The ability of video conferencing to save your small business money doesn’t only come from directly kicking travel costs to the curb. The University of Miami studied the benefits of making the move to video conferencing and found that there are plenty of other indirect benefits to conducting meetings on a digital platform, including administrative costs associated with setting up long-distance travel. As such, switching to video conferencing creates an indirect savings ripple effect throughout your entire organizational budget.

The Fiscal Benefits of Going Green

Of course, the savings generated by video conferencing aren’t limited to just the direct and indirect employee travel costs. When looking at the potential for reduced expenses, Joe Kennedy of the Bellevue Business Journal points out that the very nature of going digital comes with its own type of fiscal benefits. By making the switch to conferences conducted via the Internet, all of the paperwork associated with these meetings becomes entirely unnecessary, creating an approach that’s both friendly to your budget and the environment. Many video meeting platforms offer file transfer capabilities that move massive documents in real time while you continue with the other proceedings. And even if “going green” isn’t your main objective, it’s still a nice tangential benefit your brand can enjoy while saving money on paper, ink, and other supply costs.

Time Is Money

By making the move to an innovative digital platform, your organization can optimize its most valuable asset: time. In addition to eliminating travel time, having your employees stay on-site for meetings allows them to work on important projects both before and after the meeting, thereby improving efficiency, client relations and lead generation.

For a small business to succeed in the ultra-competitive global marketplace, making the most out of every resource is essential — and video conferencing embraces this mindset. From eliminating travel costs to enhancing employee efficiency, taking your meetings to the digital frontier offers a simple and effective way to help trim the company budget and keep your bottom line in a healthy and happy place.
